Childhood
Many women came to Belgium with their families when they were just children, forced to change their lives in order to find a better life. They went to school in this country, grew up between two cultures, learning the traditions of their family but also those of the Belgian world that was opening up to them. In many cases, they became the best teachers to pass on this new culture to their parents.
Other women came when they were older and formed their own families in Belgium. At a time when distances seemed greater, they instilled in their children the values, traditions and love for Spanish culture. However, raising their children thousands of kilometres away from their families was no easy task.
